Longitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the east-west position of a point on the Earth’s surface. It is the vertical lines on a globe that go “up and down” from the North Pole to the South Pole. These lines are called meridians and they act like a ruler to measure how far you are from the starting line in London. For e.g. If you move to the right (towards Asia), you are in East Longitude (e.g., Tokyo is at 139° E). If you move to the left (towards the Americas), you are in West Longitude (e.g., New York is at 74° W).
