Latitude is the geographic coordinate that specifies the north-south position of a point on the Earth’s surface. It is measured in degrees, ranging from 0° at the Equator to 90° at the North and South Poles. Imagine a giant ladder wrapped around the Earth, they run horizontally (side-to-side) but help you climb from the bottom (South Pole) to the top (North Pole). The closer you are to 0°, the hotter it usually is (Tropical Zone). The closer you get to 90°, the colder it gets (Polar Circles).
